Women's Football

Macquarie Dragons Women’s Football

Macquarie Dragons FC offers women and girls the opportunity to play football in North West Sydney Women’s Football (NWSWF), the Gladesville Hornsby Football Association (GHFA) or both.
The club has a proud tradition of female players, our most well-known being Michelle Jenneke, the current Australian 100 metre hurdler (please see our Facebook page for photos of Michelle at the 2014 presentation day).
Michelle played for the Dragons for over ten years, starting in the minis as an under 6 player.

The club has all age players and junior teams in the NWSWF and is looking to build and grow women’s football.

Girls can choose to play either Saturdays in the GHFA competition or Sundays in NWSWF.  There is the option to play both – should we be able to offer a team for both days.
We are also keen to encourage our female players to become coaches and/or referees.  We continue to have a female presence as both referees and coaches and we are very keen to support our players who may want to consider either a referee or coaching role as well.

Our family friendly, inclusive club welcomes female players of all ages and abilities.

Electronic Matchsheets
In 2018, electronic matchsheets will be compulsory for all competitions from U10 upwards. Both teams are required to have their teamsheets marked as “complete” and to confirm the other team’s teamsheet in the system 10 mins prior to kick-off.

With electronic teamsheets, both team managers must complete their teamsheet 10 mins prior to the match so that the opposing team manager can confirm. All relevant information must be included, including any upgraded players and shirt numbers for all players. For electronic teamsheets, the team manager should confirm the opposition’s teamsheet to lock the teamsheet from further change.
